In celebration of the United States Semiquincentennial, the Irving Archives and Museum has unveiled its America 250 Wish Wall. This interactive mural, painted by Dallas-based artist Ruth Monjaras, invites guests to share their hopes for the next chapter of our nation’s story. Inspired by the nationwide Made By Us initiative honoring America’s 250th anniversary, the Wish Wall encourages community members to add their wishes throughout the summer at IAM.
About the Artist
Ruth Monjaras has had a passion for art since they were young. This passion led them to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts at Texas Woman’s University, where they graduated in 2021. Ruth specializes in multiple artistic mediums such as painting, ceramics, jewelry making, chain mailing, linocuts, and any other craft they can get their hands on. Ruth’s work focuses on themes such as vulnerability, self-expression, and emotions and has been featured in multiple art exhibits and galleries.
The Irving Archives and Museum approached Ruth to commission a unique design for a Wish Wall, which gained popularity after one was installed in the Smithsonian in 2025. The Wish Wall invites guests to contribute their hopes for the future of the United States. Ruth’s Wish Wall depicts a telescope viewing into space in the foreground, with the moon and an American flag in the background. Guests to Irving Archives and Museum are invited to contribute their wish for the future through Summer 2026.
