Service Beyond Duty: Native Americans in the Armed Forces

Service Beyond Duty: Native Americans in the Armed Forces honors Native American veterans who have served their nation with distinction while remaining deeply committed to their tribal communities.

This local exhibition highlights the stories of two Cherokee veterans of the United States Air Force and two veterans of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army, who are members of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, Waco, Tawakoni, and Keechi. Through powerful artifacts, personal narratives, and significant photographs, visitors are invited to explore lives shaped by service, heritage, and leadership.

The exhibition also features two digital experiences spotlighting Native American Medal of Honor Recipients from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, presented with generous support from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.

This exhibition is hosted in partnership with For Gallantry & Service.
