American Quilts: Craft and Community
As part of the Irving Archives and Museum’s commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary, this pop-up exhibit highlights a selection of quilts created by members of the Irving Quilt Guild.

American Quilts: Craft and Community
On view through May 31, 2026
With imagery inspired by American symbols and a tradition of making for others, these works, presented by members of the Irving Quilt Guild, reflect both creative expression and community care. Through the decades the Guild has created quilts for service members, children, and families in need.
This installation offers a glimpse into the Guild’s broader work, where craftsmanship and community care are closely connected.
The Irving Quilt Guild supports a range of community initiatives through the creation and donation of handmade quilts:
Quilts of Valor Foundation: Quilts made to honor and comfort service members and veterans across the United States.
Love Thy Baby: Baby quilts and receiving blankets for newborns and families in need.
Keeper Quilt Program: Quilts donated to organizations for fundraising and community support efforts.
Angel Quilts: Small quilts created for children undergoing surgery at Scottish Rite Hospital. The Guild aims to donate 300 quilts annually and has contributed more than 5,000 quilts to date.
